Apple pie with salted Caramel sauce
A classic that we never get tired of! Prepared with cinnamon, all apices and nutmeg marinated apples, this is tart full of chrismas flavours! We served it with salted caramel sauce (view recipe), even more decadent!

5 Granny smith, Fuji or Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cleaned and sliced into 1/8-inch wedges |

3/4 cup fresh lemon juice |
For dough |
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour |
2 tsp. brown sugar |
1 tap. salt |
1 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into small cubes and cold |
1/8 cup very cold water |
1/8 cup white vinegar |
Seasoning for apples |
1/4 cup salted caramel (recipe on our site) |
2/3 cup brown sugar |
3 tbsp. all purpose flour |
1 tsp. ground cinnamon |
1/4 tsp. all spices |
1/8 tsp. ground nutemeg |
To brush pie |
1 egg, slightly beaten |
1 tsp. brown sugar |
Preparation
For pie dough, in a bowl of an electric robot, add flour, sugar, and salt, pulse once or twice. Add butter and pulse until the mixture turns into small pieces.
Mix together water and vinegar and add mixture gradually to dough mixture, continuing to pulses until its starts coming together. Remove mixture from bowl, form ball with your hand.
Cut into 2 equal portions and form 2 disks, wrap each one with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Meanwhile, prepare apple quarters and place them in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent from blackening. Drain apple and set aside.
In a large bowl, add all ingredients for apple seasoning and mix well. Add apple quarters and coat well with mixture, set aside.
Lower your first disc of dough to size of your pie plate on waxed paper (it will be easier to transfer it to your pie plate). Place dough at the bottom of plate and spread it with your fingers.
Add one layer of apples and cover with salted caramel sauce (view recipe) (do not overdo it.) Add apples and caramel until well-filled.
Lower the second disc of dough. Cut into strips and place on top of tart.
Press the dough all the way around to seal. Brush with beaten egg and add 1 tsp. sugar, place in freezer for 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350˚F, place pie in center of oven and bake 55 to 60 minutes.
When ready, let it rest at least 30 minutes before serving.
